Our data has become a powerful player in the economy, except consumers are not the ones deriving value from it. How it is gathered, governed, deployed and made beneficial is a process we are removed from. How do we change the landscape of extraction so that our data could provide generative knowledge to our lives, and ultimately reimagine the economy?

MozFest 2023 Spaces

Think of Spaces at MozFest as mini-festivals. Within each Space, participants can find everything they need: interactive, community-led sessions, inspiring talks, art installations, lots of coffee, and community.

AI Cosmologies

The omnipresence of artificial intelligence propels us faster and further into a liminal dimension between the physical and the digital. Our (id)entities, perceptions, and realities are rapidly marked and shaped by this third space – as we make these systems they too make us. How might our encounters with AI be shaping our personhood, our relationships to eachOther, and the world? Engaged by our enmeshment with AI, we foray into not-yet-known ecologies of different possible worlds.

Co-creative; Collaborative; Immersive. Embodied; Emergent. This cosmo-technic inquiry will respond to and evolve around participant offerings, interactions, provocations, and curiosities. Join us in this introspective yet collective wayfinding experiment exploring the complexities of shapeshifting algorithmic (id)entities and spaces.

The MoZone Space brings together people and projects connected to the wide constellation of Mozilla’s work, with a focus on Trustworthy AI. As Mozilla celebrates 25 years of building a better internet, join staff, fellows, alumni, and partners as we imagine the next quarter century together.

Together, we can protect our communities from the harm AI is causing, and build tech that will put humanity and public good at the forefront to effect positive change. We will cross-pollinate our work and movements, collaborate toward collective action, and imagine new realities!
