AI Transparency in Practice. Builders on what works — and what doesn't. Mozilla’s research on AI transparency, with practical advice from Thoughtworks.
In 2019, we gathered in London to celebrate our 10th Anniversary MozFest — and our last in this city, as the Festival will be moving to a new location in 2020.
Mozilla Common Voice is announcing $400,000 USD in grants for voice technologies that leverage our open-source Kiswahili data set. Awards of up to $50,000 each will be given to winning projects in Kenya, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Specifically, Common Voice is seeking projects focused on agriculture and finance, and that uplift groups who experience digital exclusion. The initiative will support people and projects across East Africa who are using voice technology to unlock social and economic opportunities.
Content moderation, surveillance, code-switching, and misinformation are all issues of concern around the world, but especially so for those in the South West Asian and North African regions. Check out these MozFest 2022 Watchlists for SWANA awareness.
True to our roots in open-source, we intend to go about the Foundation’s work transparently, learning and iterating in the open. Working openly isn’t just for products – it’s a set of principles we want to bring to everything we do, whether it’s advocacy or grantmaking or community-building.
