Timeline

Finding Our Rhythm

2010

The first MozFest wasn’t technically a MozFest. Instead, it was the Drumbeat Festival, a convening of leaders in Barcelona making radical disruptions in learning and in web technology.

London Calling

2011

Along with the change in cities came a change in name, and the Mozilla Festival was solidified as a gathering place for Mozilla’s global network.

Generation of Webmakers

2012

MozFest’s third year marked the rise of the maker spirit. We invested more in nurturing grassroots innovators doing incredible work in their communities.

Less Yack, More Hack

2013

Passionate thinkers and inventors from around the world met to learn from each other and help forge the future of the web. The maker vibe had truely taken off.

Teach the Web

2014

Web literacy and access took center stage. MozFest became a platform for app-makers, artists, and educators to push boundaries and inspire.

Collaborative Curation

2015

MozFest responded to growing threats to digital rights, with the community coming together to co-create a festival focused on safety, privacy, and the future of the open web.

Immersive Experiences

2016

Storytelling and art became central to MozFest, with MozEx and Dialogues & Debates creating spaces that sparked inspiration and collaboration through creativity.
