Mozilla Festival (“MozFest”)

Purchasing Tickets

Each ticket is unique, which allows for one person’s entry into the festival. Keep your order details safe, as we may not be able to admit you to the festival if the ticket has previously been used.

Attendee Privacy Policy

OurAttendee Privacy Policy describes how we handle information that we receive from you in connection with MozFest.

Participation of Minors

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if older) (an “Adult”) to make a ticket purchase on our website. If you have purchased a ticket and are the parent or legal guardian of a person under that age (a “Minor”), you may bring your Minor with you to sessions you have registered for. Minors may not purchase tickets, and should not provide any personal information to Mozilla through this website. Parents/Guardians should supervise their Minors’ participation in MozFest. Mozilla does not supervise Minors’ participation, and except where we clearly state otherwise (e.g., Youth & Futures events), does not screen events for appropriateness for Minors. Generally, anyone participating in MozFest can attend MozFest sessions, which are often live events with active, spontaneous participation. We cannot control, or take responsibility for, how other participants act around your child. Even in sessions that are intended for youth participation, your supervision is a key part of making sure your child has a safe and productive experience. Parents/Guardians agree to be responsible for their Minor(s) at all times.

By allowing your Minor to participate in MozFest, you agree to the following:

  • You confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of the Minor who is participating in MozFest.
  • You freely and voluntarily consent to have your Minor participate in the Mozilla Festival and to have their Submissions (see “Permission to Use Participant Content” below) used and displayed by Mozilla as described in this Agreement.
  • You agree to all of the terms of this Agreement on behalf of yourself and your Minor. “You” or “you” as used throughout this agreement shall refer to you and your Minor.
  • You understand that any personal information your Minor provides or that you provide to Mozilla on your Minor’s behalf (such as your Minor’s image or other identifying information) may be viewed by any Mozilla Festival participant and in some circumstances the general public, and that Mozilla cannot prevent people from recording or otherwise using such information.
  • Mozilla Festival events, including your Minor, may be recorded (for example, by video, photographic or audio recording) and published for access and use by Mozilla Festival participants or the general public. For virtual events, please turn off your Minor’s video and microphone on Zoom (or other teleconferencing platform) if you do not wish for them to be recorded.
  • You understand that Mozilla may collect limited personal information about your Minor to facilitate their participation in the Mozilla Festival and otherwise as described in the Mozilla Festival Event Privacy Policy available at https://www.mozillafestival.org/event-privacy-policy/.
  • You understand that, to the extent possible, you may have personal information about your child (that is held by Mozilla) deleted at any time during or after Mozilla Festival has completed; and that you may contact compliance@mozilla.com for further information about how to do so.

Refunds

Ticket purchases are final and nonrefundable. However, if the event is cancelled by us, you will be entitled to a full refund of the amount paid for your order.

Ticket Transfers

Tickets may be transferred to another person immediately after the purchase is completed or through the link provided in the confirmation email. You can also request to transfer your ticket up to 10 working days before the event by emailing festival@mozilla.org.

Ticket assignees will be required to agree to these Terms in order to claim the ticket.

Festival Participation and Removal from MozFest

By participating in MozFest, you agree to comply with the Mozilla Community Participation Guidelines. These guidelines apply to participants, facilitators, wranglers, staff, volunteers, vendors, and anyone else involved in making MozFest possible.

How to treat each other:

  • Be respectful and value each other’s ideas, styles and viewpoints.
  • Be direct but professional; we cannot withhold hard truths.
  • Be inclusive and help new perspectives be heard.
  • Appreciate and accommodate our many cultural practices, attitudes and beliefs. Be open to learning from others.
  • Lead by example and match your actions with your words.
  • The following will not be tolerated at MozFest:
    • Violence and threats of violence; personal attacks;
    • Derogatory language;
    • Unwelcome sexual attention or physical contact;
    • Disruptive behaviour;
    • Influencing unacceptable behaviour.

If you do not respect these guidelines, Mozilla may take corrective action, including removing you from MozFest and prohibiting you from attending this and/or any future MozFests or other Mozilla events. If removed from MozFest, you will not receive any refund for tickets purchased.

Violations of the Community Participation Guidelines may be reported by emailing festival-safety@mozilla.com or by mentioning @Safety Team on the MozFest Discord.

Compliance with Third Party Platform Terms

Mozilla may utilize various third party services, such as teleconferencing services (e.g., Zoom) and whiteboard applications (e.g., Miro) to produce the Mozilla Festival. You agree to comply with all terms governing the use of such services.

External Websites

Mozilla Festival websites may contain links to other websites or online services that are not under the control of or maintained by Mozilla. Once you have clicked on a link connecting you to any such third-party website or service, you will leave Mozilla’s website(s) and be taken to a website that we do not control. Mozilla is not responsible for the content of such third party websites or services. These Terms do not apply to such other websites and online services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies and terms of use of these other websites or services.

Photography and Recordings

MozFest events, including both live in-person events, and virtual community sessions (including participation in Slack discussions), may be livestreamed and/or recorded (for example, by video, photographic or audio recording) and published for access and use by MozFest participants or the general public.

By attending an in-person or virtual Mozfest event or program, you understand and acknowledge that photography, audio and video recording of the in-person or virtual event may occur.

Your entry and presence on the event premises constitutes your consent to be photographed, filmed, and/or otherwise recorded and to the release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction of any and all recorded media of your appearance, voice, and name for any purpose whatsoever in perpetuity in connection with the Mozilla Foundation and its initiatives, including, by way of example only, use on websites, in social media, news and advertising.

By entering the event premises, you waive and release any claims you may have related to the use of recorded media of your likeness at the event, including, without limitation, any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you, any claims for invasion of privacy, violation of the right of publicity, defamation, and copyright infringement or for any fees for use of such recorded media.

If attending an in-person event, Mozilla will make its best effort not to photograph or record any individual who does not wish to be recorded. To achieve this, Mozilla will distribute specific lanyards for anyone who does not wish to appear in photography or video recordings of the event. We cannot ensure with absolute certainty that an individual may not be recorded in a wide shot or group setting.

During virtual events, please turn off your video and microphone on Discord (or other platform) if you do not wish to be recorded. If you have any questions about recording of events, please contact us at festival@mozilla.org.

You understand that all photography, filming and/or recording will be done in reliance on this consent. If you do not agree to the foregoing, please do not attend a MozFest event.

Permission to Use Participant Content

MozFest includes opportunities for participants to contribute content, such as software and written or artistic works (“Submissions”). Some examples include hack-a-thons, contributing to collaborative projects, and contributing to session materials, such as Miro whiteboards. In addition, participants may engage in emergent sessions in which they may present materials such as slides, written works, photographs, videos, handouts, and other visual aids (“Session Materials”).

For Session Materials, you hereby grant Mozilla Foundation (“Mozilla”), its affiliates, and its licensees a nonexclusive, worldwide, sublicensable license to copy, use, distribute, publish, publicly display, and publicly perform the Session Materials (including Your likeness, photograph, name, voice, and biographical information if included in, or provided to Mozilla in connection with, the Session Materials) for the purpose of making the Session Materials available to other MozFest participants, including through third party services (e.g. Zoom or other teleconferencing services). If the Session Materials will be made available through a non-Mozilla website (e.g. you post the Session Materials on your website or on YouTube or Vimeo), you grant Mozilla the right to display a hyperlink to the Session Materials and such website (and any trademarks included in the hyperlink). You represent and warrant that you have the rights necessary to grant the rights granted herein, and further, that the uses contemplated under these Terms will not infringe the proprietary or intellectual property rights of any third party. You understand and agree that Mozilla reserves the right, at its discretion, to review, modify, or remove any Session Materials that it deems is objectionable or in violation of these Terms.

For Submissions to Mozilla’s open source projects, you agree to license your Submission under the terms of the corresponding license of the particular open source project to which you are contributing. For more information on the specific license, please see the applicable source code or GitHub repository.

For all other Submissions, you agree to the following in connection with each:

  • You hereby grant Mozilla a nonexclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable (to those we work with) license to use your Submission in connection with the online and offline promotion of Mozilla’s mission, products and services.
  • If the Submission will be made available to Mozilla through a non-Mozilla website (e.g. you post it on your website or on YouTube or Vimeo), you grant Mozilla the right to display a hyperlink to the Contribution and such website (and any trademarks included in the hyperlink) and/or embed the Submission on Mozilla’s websites and other channels.
  • You acknowledge that your Submissions may be accessible by other MozFest participants or the public.
  • You agree to license your Submissions in a manner that is compatible with the license(s) under which Mozilla makes material available to the public. Mozilla’s licensing policies are available at https://foundation.mozilla.org/who-we-are/website-licensing/. Generally, Mozilla utilizes the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License, which provides that others may share and adapt the content on the condition that they provide attribution to the creator.   • You represent and warrant that you have the rights necessary to grant the rights granted herein, and further, that the uses contemplated under these Terms will not infringe the proprietary or intellectual property rights of any third party.
  • You understand and agree that Mozilla reserves the right, at its discretion, to review, modify, or remove any Submission that it deems is objectionable or in violation of these Terms.
